How hijacking DNS can help enhance security and save costs

What is a better solution than, changing the answer of the same DNS request that a client makes, to point to a private link endpoint. To do this we need to hijack the public domain name of the SAAS service and make sure the resolving of the domain is done via a private hosted zone. This will force the traffic to go over a private network towards a SAAS provider.

AI Changes Everything. Except what makes great systems.

An incident call starts with an AI assistant explaining the changed code. Useful. But the room still goes quiet because nobody knows why this flow behaves differently, or which other promises depend on it. AI makes code, tests and summaries cheaper. The harder work is preserving the shared understanding behind the system. This session connects Naur’s theory building to daily AI-assisted development and leaves developers with practical habits for keeping the why alive.

Putting PostGIS To Work In AWS Aurora

A very common misperception is that because AWS Aurora isn’t a pure copy of PostgreSQL, that the greatest part of Postgres, the extensibility, is somehow lost. This session shows how PostGIS was put to work within AWS Aurora to map amateur radio data. We’ll cover how extensions work within Aurora, which ones are supported, why, and how to use them on your databases. Aurora is PostgreSQL, and this session will show that in action.

In 2001: A Space Odyssey, humanity’s relationship with technology begins with a bone. A simple tool that provides extraordinary leverage. Millions of years later, the astronauts aboard Discovery One live inside a system controlled by HAL 9000, a useful and trusted tool that eventually becomes impossible to work around. During a large code migration at PostNL, I watched AI go from something I used for individual tasks to something I depended on to move the work forward.
