20M Meetup - Room: postwagon-3 - Start Time: 19:00
This talk is about gamification and why it works, also during a lockdown.
In January 2021, all our colleagues received a Season Pass for ‘Cloud: The Game’. With access to two online, light-weight platforms and an enthousiastic video introduction our journey to confidently call ourselves, each and every one, Cloud Proficient had begun.
I will not be talking about how we used AWS Amplify, Route 53, Lamba’s, Aurora, and Cognito to deliver a seamless Cloud: The Game experience.
Instead, I will take you along on our journey to design a gamification experience to motivate a large group of individuals. In an increasingly distorted world of perceived imminent doom that was the heyday of COVID-19 a different approach is required. How do you drive knowledge building in an extremely digital, yet surprisingly disconnected time in our lives?
Over the course of one year, a company-wide program was run, pitting individuals, groups, and entire branches against each other in a wide range of activities and competitions. We will be touching on how we got recognized at AWS for the buttload of certifications our collegues achieved each month (https://www.linkedin.com/posts/hyon-dijksterhuis_awscertification-awspartner-activity-6889208254086426624-gkbW).
But more importantly I will talk to you about late-night badge-crafting, about how scripted jokes are funnier written down, and why my ‘Adobe Premiere’-skill took flight.
