Organisations often make the decision to use a technology without truly understanding the implications of that decision. For example, EKS/Kubernetes is promised to be the holy grail that will solve all problems that ever happened in IT, but often brings more struggles than solutions and that makes it a prime case of this phenomenon.

During this session we will go over some of the more commonly forgotten (read: ignored) implications of adopting promising technologies on AWS. While taking a critical stance from an AWS best practice point-of-view, we keep things light and emphasise that this is not a technology problem, but an expectation vs realisation problem. We want to interact with the audience and have them share projects that they got stuck on because of this phenomenon, in order to help them prevent these mistakes in their next enthusiasm-driven need for innovation.
